چکیده

Connections of I-beam to CHS column in buildings are either simple (fin plate connection, directly welded beam connections) and flexible or rather complex rigid (external diaphragm connections). The passing-through I-beam-to-CHS connections made by laser cutting technology offer a solution that limit the amount welding enhance stiffness joint. An experimental campaign has been carried out investigate behaviour this type moment resisting under monotonic equal bending produced gravity loadings. These tests demonstrate uninterrupted continuity produces rigid-full strength connections. In addition, same configuration tested opposite moments applied monotonically cyclic manner characterize connection seismic loading. failure modes quite different compared those observed involve substantial force redistributions between joint components after cracks propagation occurred. highlighted impact tube-wall thickness technique on response. analytical model is proposed evaluate resistance initial rotational considering interaction tube segment section inside tube.
